ABOUT THE SRP
The Society of Recorder Players,
founded in 1937,
is a charity registered in England, Wales and Scotland. Its principal objective is to promote the education
of the public in the study, practice and
appreciation of the recorder. Membership is usually through one of over 50 Branches spread throughout
the whole UK. As well as the pleasure of regular local playing in a welcoming and stimulating environment, benefits of membership include subscription to 'The Recorder' magazine, access to a vast music library, the expertise of an annual Visiting Conductor to each branch subsidised by the Society, specialist Training Courses,
an address list of members, the facility to
attend other branch meetings at little or no extra cost -
and much, much more - all of which can be found
on the Society's comprehensive website.

Subscription fees are in two components - one to the Society itself, which includes the excellent quarterly magazine 'The Recorder' sent direct to your doorstep - and an additional sub to your chosen branch to cover costs such as hall hire, refreshments, conductors and music. Meeting times and subs vary between branches. Subscription is annual, with the Society playing year running from Sept 1st to Aug 31st. For those joining after January in any year, the Society sub is halved and Wales branch sub is reduced. We hold 9 meetings per year, 6 of which fall after January.
